Antoinette comes from humble beginnings. She grew up in a quaint settlement called The Bluff on South Andros. She was always a self-starter and go-getter who continually strived for excellence. Growing up on Andros, she didn’t have most necessities, but what she did possess was a great degree of discipline and determination, which proved to be vital tools in her journey thus far.
She is the eldest of her siblings and the mother of one adult son, Maurice. Antoinette has been employed with The Bahamas Government since 1987, when she joined the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. She served in the Force for twelve and a half years and throughout her career, served in many government Ministries and Departments including the Road Traffic Department, Ministry of Housing and National Insurance, Ministry of the Environment and Housing, and the Ministry of Tourism. She is presently stationed at the Cabinet Office of The Bahamas, where she coordinates national events. She has chaired and served on many committees.
She holds an Associate of Arts in Secretarial Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management. She’s an original member of The Bahamas National Youth Choir (1990). Antoinette serves as a member of the National Independence, Remembrance Day, and Majority Rule Committees; she also served as Secretary to the Advisory Committee for National Honors, and as a member of the Secretariat for the Constitutional Commission (2012). She coordinates all state funerals for the Government of The Bahamas.
Antoinette is a highly motivated, organized, caring, very positive, industrious, and ambitious individual. She completed training in Naval Writing at the Naval Base in Meridian, Mississippi, and earned certificates in Advanced Writing, Writing Cabinet Papers and Public Administration at the Public Service Training Centre, as well as a certificate in Professional Development from the College of The Bahamas. She is the Author of her newly released book, “Raped…A Survivor’s Compelling Testimony” and a motivational speaker.
She is an ordained deaconess in United Faith Ministries International (UFMI), and serves in various ministries within the church. She enjoys writing, singing, reading and watching romantic movies. She also enjoys watching track and field.
Antoinette’s favorite verse in the Bible comes from Philippians 4:13, which states: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
