Mr. Mark Humes is former Member of Parliament and Assistant Professor at The University of The Bahamas. From 2017 to 2021, he also served as the Chairman of The Bahamas Agricultural Health and Food Safety Authority, The Bahamas Independence Secretariat, and The National Honors Secretariat.
Mr. Humes is 1996 graduate of Morehouse College, where he obtained Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and French. He would later go on to attend the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, where he received a Master of Arts degree in African American Literature and Theory.
Prior to joining the staff at the then College of The Bahamas in 2006, Mr. Humes taught in the Atlanta Public School system, at the Marist School in Atlanta, and at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras.
He currently serves as the principle creative consultant with the Smith & Dunmore Creative Development Group, a company dedicated to designing and managing the strategic development of start-up enterprises, as well as crafting and executing creative solutions to its clients’ unique public relations, marketing, branding, and organizational needs.
Mr. Humes has one Son, Denrodo, and seven grandchildren. He enjoys everything related to film, video, and music production and is an active member of the Ringplay Production, participating regularly in the company’s Shakespeare In Paradise Festivals at the Dundas Theatre.
